2. Collecting your personal information
When you apply for or use our products or services, we collect information to:
1. provide you with the relevant product or service (including assessing your application and verifying your identity);
2. manage and administer your account; and
3. protect against fraud or misuse.
Information collected may include your name, business details, contact information, and other details necessary for these purposes.
We collect information directly from you whenever practical — for example, through application forms, phone calls, or our website.
In some cases, we may collect it from third parties such as credit reporting agencies, professional advisers, or public records.
2.1 Use of Document Verification Services
To confirm your identity and prevent fraud, WeDo Invoice Finance Pty Ltd may use approved Document Verification Services (DVS).
These services securely compare the identification details you provide (for example, a driver’s licence or passport) against official government or issuing‑agency records.
1. Information is sent via secure, encrypted channels.
2. It is used only for identification and fraud‑prevention purposes.
3. It is not retained longer than necessary.
We only use government-related identifiers where permitted by law and where it is reasonably necessary for our business activities, including:
1. Verifying your identity before providing invoice finance or entering into credit or security or related agreements
2. Meeting our obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act)
3. Preventing, detecting, and managing fraud or identity crime
4. Assessing and managing credit risk
These checks comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), applicable privacy rules for the DVS framework, and all associated security requirements.
2.2 Document Verification Service
With your express consent, WeDo may verify the information on your identity documents using the Australian Government’s Document Verification Service (DVS). The DVS allows us to confirm whether the information you have provided matches the relevant government record.
For the purpose of conducting these checks, your identification may be securely disclosed to and processed by:
1. Our selected Gateway Service Provider
2. Approved intermediaries acting as Information Match Agents
3. The relevant government document issuer or official record holder
WeDo does not receive copies of your identity documents from the DVS. We only receive an automated result indicating whether the information you provided matches existing official records.
2.3 Consent
Before completing any DVS identity-verification check, we will ask for your express and informed consent. You may choose not to provide consent; however, if we cannot verify your identity, we may be unable to offer our services.
2.4 Security
WeDo applies strict security measures to protect all identification information used for DVS checks. This includes access controls, encryption, monitoring, secure transmission protocols, and secure data storage, in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles and our internal security frameworks.
2.5 Retention
We retain identity verification information only for as long as requested under Australian Law, including AML/CTF and credit related compliance requirements. After these periods expire, information is securely destroyed or de-identified.
3. Using and disclosing your personal information
We may share your personal information with trusted third parties and organisations that help us deliver or manage our services, always under confidentiality and privacy safeguards.
